THE HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE SANJAY KUMAR WRIT PETITION NO.916 OF 2016

O R D E R

The grievance of the petitioners was with regard to the inaction on the part of the authorities in issuing caste certificates to them. The Tahsildar, Ramagundam Mandal, respondent No.4, filed a counter-affidavit stating that the petitioners applied for caste certificates as they claimed to be members of 'Budaga Jangam' community, a Scheduled Caste community. The matter was stated to be pending before the District Level Scrutiny Committee which was yet to finalize the issue of genuineness of the caste claim of the petitioners. The Tahsildar further stated that upon receipt of orders from the District Level Scrutiny Committee, the requests of the petitioners for issuance of caste certificates would be examined in the light thereof and action would be taken in accordance therewith.

In the light of the aforestated counter-affidavit, the writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent authorities concerned to follow the due procedure prescribed in the Andhra Pradesh (Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes) Regulation of Issue of Community Certificates Act, 1993, and take appropriate action upon the petitioners' applications for issuance of caste certificates. This exercise shall be completed expeditiously and in any event, not later than two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Pending miscellaneous petitions shall stand closed. No order as to costs. ______________________ SANJAY KUMAR, J 23rd FEBRUARY, 2016 Svv
