Petitioners claim that their father purchased land to an extent of Acs.8.16 guntas in Survey Nos.114/9 and 114/10 of Tatparty Village, Yacharam Mandal, Ranga Reddy District. According to petitioners, during the lifetime of their father, he was in possession and enjoyment and after his demise in the year 1983, they came into possession and are enjoying the property. While so, on verification of the revenue records, they noticed that the names of three persons are reflected in the patta and possessors column. According to them, there was some manipulation to change the revenue records. Therefore, in the month of August, 2016, petitioners submitted representation before the District Collector, Ranga Reddy District, to delete the names of three persons whose names are reflected in the revenue records and to mutate their names.

The District Collector forwarded the representation of the petitioners to the Tahsildar, Yacharam Mandal, vide his letter dated 13.12.2016, requesting him to take further course of action. Alleging inaction on the part of the Tashildar, this Writ Petition is filed. 2.

As per the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Rights in Land and Pattadar Passbooks Act, 1971 (for short, 'the Act'), detailed procedure is prescribed for entering or correction of the names in the revenue records. So far no application is filed by the petitioners to carry out correction in the revenue records, but only representation is filed. It appears from the pleadings that certain corrections were made in the revenue records reflecting the names

of persons other than the family members. If that is so, petitioners have to avail the remedy of appeal or revision, as the case may be, but cannot make a representation. Therefore, the representation made to the District Collector, Ranga Reddy District, and the directions issued by him in his letter dated 13.12.2016, which petitioners seek to enforce in this Writ Petition, are not valid and therefore no relief as sought for by them can be granted. 3.

The Writ Petition is accordingly dismissed leaving it open to the petitioners to avail the remedy as available under the Act. There shall be no order as to costs.

Miscellaneous Petitions, if any, pending in the Writ Petition shall stand closed.
