O R D E R

This writ petition was filed assailing the proceedings of the District Collector, Kurnool, dated 08.12.2010 rejecting the request of the petitioner for grant of an arms licence and the proceedings dated 09.03.2012 of the Commissioner (Appeals), Office of the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration, Andhra Pradesh, confirming the same.

The Superintendent of Police, Kurnool, filed a counter-affidavit stating that the petitioner never complained to the local police about any specific threat from a particular quarter and that the police were always available to protect the life and liberty of the citizens. As the issue raised before this Court has become stale in terms of the request of the petitioner long ago for an arms licence in the year 2010, this writ petition is closed leaving it open to the petitioner to apply afresh for grant of an arms licence if the situation so warrants, duly supporting his application with proper material to substantiate his threat perception. If such an application is made, the respondent authorities shall consider the same in accordance with law on its own merits. Pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall also stand closed. No order as to costs.
