Heard both sides and with consent of the counsel appearing for both sides, the present writ petition is disposed of at the admission stage.

2 . The present writ petition came to be filed seeking issuance of writ of mandamus declaring the action of the respondents authorities, particularly respondent Nos.5 to 19, in seizing the jaggery and alum from the shops of the petitioners and registering cases against them under Prohibition and Excise Act in spite of the petitioners having valid licence and permission for conducting the business of jaggery, as illegal and arbitrary and consequently, to direct the respondent authorities, particularly respondent Nos.5 to 19, not to interfere with the legal business of the petitioners in respect of sale of jaggery and alum.

3. Though various grounds are raised in the writ petition seeking release of jaggery and alum seized by respondents 5 to 19, learned counsel for the petitioners restricts her prayer seeking a direction to respondents 5 to 19 not to interfere with the business of the petitioners except in accordance with law. The learned counsel for the petitioners states that she is not pressing for release of jaggery and alum alleged to have been seized by respondents 5 to 19 from the shops of the petitioners.

4. Having regard to the circumstances stated above, the Writ Petition is disposed of directing respondents 5 to 19 not to

interfere with the business of the petitioners except in accordance with law and as per the prescribed procedure. Consequently, Miscellaneous Petitions, if any, pending in this writ petition shall stand closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
