The grievance of the petitioners was that the police authorities were not taking steps to stop the fishing operations in Alaganur reservoir, despite the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Nandyal, addressing letter dated 16.04.2011 to the police authorities to do so. The Sub-Inspector of Police, Midthur Police Station, Kurnool District, furnished written instructions dated 13.05.2011 to the office of the learned Government Pleader for Home, wherein he stated that there were disputes amongst the members of the Fishermen Cooperative Society, Talamudipi, with regard to fishing operations in Alaganur reservoir and five cases had been registered on the file of Midthur Police Station in this regard. However, half of Alaganur reservoir falls within the jurisdiction of Midthur Police Station while the other half fell within the jurisdiction of Gadivemula Police Station. He further stated that the police authorities were ready and willing to provide police protection as requested by the Assistant Director of

Fisheries but, they had no jurisdiction to do so in respect of the extent which fell within the control of the other police station. The Assistant Director of Fisheries, Nandyal, furnished separate written instructions to the office of the learned Government Pleader for Fisheries, wherein he stated that he had addressed a letter to the police authorities to stop fishing operations only in the context of the admission of new members in the Fishermen Co-operative Society, Talamudipi, which was in process. However, the skill test was completed thereafter and 138 eligible persons were admitted in the society under memo dated 19.04.2011 of the Deputy Director of Fisheries, Kurnool, and the proceedings dated 21.04.2011 of the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Nandyal.

In that view of the matter, the Fishermen Co-operative Society, Talamudipi, was permitted to continue fishing operations under letter dated 23.04.2011. In the light of the facts brought out by the fisheries authorities, it is clear that the cause no longer survives in this writ petition as no police protection is required as of now for preventing fishing operations in Alaganur reservoir.

The writ petition is therefore dismissed.

Pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall also stand dismissed. No order as to costs.
