The grievance of the petitioner herein was with regard to the rowdy sheet maintained against him on the file of Karepally Police Station, Khammam District. Before filing this writ petition, the petitioner had also submitted representation dated 23.12.2010 to the respondent authorities.

However, the Sub-Inspector of Police, Karepally Police Station, filed a counter-affidavit stating that the petitioner was involved in five criminal cases of which one had ended in a compromise and three were pending trial. He therefore asserted that the rowdy sheet opened against the petitioner was being continued on the file of the Karepally Police Station and that it stood extended till 31.12.2015. Smt. J. Sumathi, learned counsel for the petitioner, would however contend that the offences in which the petitioner was involved relate to family disputes and that the matter needs to be re-examined in the light of this fact. She further states that the petitioner again submitted representation dated 19.06.2015 to the Superintendent of

Police, Khammam, and the Inspector of Police, Karepally Police Station. A copy of the said representation is placed on record along with the postal slips evidencing that the same was sent to the addressees by registered post.

Given the totality of the above facts, this Court is of the opinion that it is for the authorities concerned to apply their mind and consider the request of the petitioner for closure of the rowdy sheet. As the representation dated 19.06.2015 is yet to be looked into, the writ petition is disposed of directing the Superintendent of Police, Khammam, to consider the same in accordance with the prevailing rules as to maintenance of rowdy sheets and pass appropriate reasoned orders thereon under communication to the petitioner. This exercise shall be completed expeditiously and in any event, not later than four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall stand closed in the light of this final order. No order as to costs. ____________________ JUSTICE SANJAY KUMAR 23rd June, 2015 IBL
