The relief of the nature sought for by the petitioner, cannot be granted by way of a writ of mandamus. Fundamentally, a writ of mandamus can be issued either to direct the respondents to perform their statutory obligations or to prevent them from violating any statutory obligation. Therefore, the Writ Petition is dismissed. Consequently, miscellaneous petitions if any pending in the writ petition shall stand dismissed. No order as to costs. __________________________ V.
