HONOURABLE SRI JUSTICE P. NAVEEN RAO WRIT PETITION No. 20993 of 2015 ORAL ORDER:

This writ petition is filed questioning the action of the first respondent Gram Panchayat in enhancing the water charges as illegal. The petitioners are residents of Bapulapadu village and their grievance is that first respondent Gram panchayat has enhanced the half yearly water charges for first petitioner from Rs.300/- to Rs.1800/- and for second petitioner from Rs.350/- to Rs.1800/- without assigning any reasons and that there is no uniformity in such enhancement. The neighbours are charged for less. Ventilating their grievance, petitioners have submitted a representation dated 6.6.2015 and the same is pending.

When the matter is taken up for consideration both the learned counsel for petitioner and learned standing counsel for first respondent Gram Panchayat consented for disposal of the writ petition at the admission stage with a direction to first respondent to dispose of the pending representation expeditiously.

Having regard to the same, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter it would suffice to dispose of the writ petition directing first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioners dated 6.6.2015 and pass appropriate orders as warranted under law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order and communicate the decision to the petitioners. Till orders are passed, respondents shall not take any coercive steps. No costs. Having regard to the same, miscellaneous petitions, if any pending, are closed.
