This writ petition is filed challenging the proceedings in Letter No.GM(IR)/AS(IR)/PO.I/561/A1/2001 dated 23.10.2001 issued by the 2nd respondent and the guidelines issued therein, as illegal and arbitrary and for a consequential direction to declare that the petitioners are entitled for consideration of their cases for appointment to the post of Village Electricity Workers, by relaxing the age limit and grant all consequential benefits.
Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that all the petitioners 1 to 9 were appointed as Village Electricity Workers except petitioner No.8. As such the cause in the writ petition in respect of petitioner Nos.1 to 9 except petitioner No.8 does not survive for adjudication. It is also represented that liberty may be given to the 8th respondent to seek appropriate remedies available under law.
In view of the same, the writ petition is dismissed as infructuous in so far as petitioner Nos. 1 to 9 except 8 is concerned. However, the writ petition is disposed of in respect of petitioner No.8 granting liberty to avail appropriate remedies available under law. No costs. As a sequel, miscellaneous petitions pending if any, shall stand closed.
