ORDER:- The grievance of the petitioner in this case was with regard to the

rowdy sheet opened in his name and being continued by the Station House Officer, Chandragiri Police Station, Tirupati.

2. Relying on the written instructions dated 21.07.2015 received from the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Tirupati West, the learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home informed this court that the petitioner was involved in three criminal cases, viz., Crime No.40 of 2007, Crime No.28 of 2009 and Crime No.5 of 2010. However, he was acquitted in all three cases by the competent criminal courts.

In view of his involvement in the aforestated cases, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, West Sub-Division, Tirupati, accorded permission for opening of a rowdy sheet in the name of the petitioner under proceedings dated 19.08.2011. The Sub-Divisional Police Officer however admitted that at present no fresh cases were registered against the petitioner on the file of Chandragiri Police Station and since the past ten months, the petitioner was not even residing within the limits of Chandragiri Police Station. He further stated that it would be open to the petitioner to make an application before the competent authority for closure of the rowdy sheet and that such an application would be considered as per law.

4. In the light of the aforestated facts, it is clear that grounds may not exist for further continuance of a rowdy sheet in the name of the petitioner on the file of Chandragiri Police Station. It shall therefore be open to the petitioner to make a representation to the Superintendent of Police, Chittoor, the second respondent herein, seeking closure of the rowdy sheet opened in his name on the file of Chandragiri police station. In the event such an application is made, the second respondent shall consider the same in accordance with law and take appropriate action in the matter. This exercise shall be completed expeditiously.

The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. Pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall stand closed in the light of this final order. No order as to costs.
