HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE C.PRAVEEN KUMAR W.P. No. 36311 of 2018 ORDER:

The present writ petition came to be filed seeking issuance of writ of mandamus declaring the rejection of the application for change of the petitioner's father's name in the petitioner's birth certificate, as illegal, improper and incorrect.

It is to be noted here that the impugned proceedings, rejecting the application of the petitioner for changing the name of her father in her birth certificate, came to be passed in the month of September, 2013. The learned Standing Counsel for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation would submit that the records will not be preserved for such a long time, to find out the name that was mentioned in the original application of the petitioner, as such, states that the petitioner may be directed to make a fresh application, in which event, the same will be dealt with in accordance with law.

Having regard to the submission made, the writ petition is disposed of at the admission stage, permitting the petitioner herein to make a fresh application seeking correction of her father's name in her birth certificate, within

a period of two weeks from today, in which event, the concerned authority shall consider the same and pass orders, preferably, within a period of four weeks from the date of application made by the petitioner, in accordance with law. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, Miscellaneous Petitions, if any, pending in this writ petition, shall stand closed.
