Heard learned counsel for the petitioners, learned Government Pleader for Land Acquisition for respondents 2 & 5, Sri K.Lakshman, learned Assistant Solicitor General for respondent No.4 and Sri S.S.Varma, learned Standing counsel for respondent No.3.

Petitioners claim to be the owners of land in Sy.Nos.338/1A, 338/3 and 339/1A2 of Iruvaram Village, Chittoor Mandal, Chittoor District. The subject lands were proposed for acquisition for the purpose of construction of Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway. The Award was passed under the National Highways Act, 1996 (for short 'the Act'). Not satisfied with the compensation awarded while acquiring the lands, petitioners therefore sought for reference to arbitration under Section 3 (G) (5) of the Act. Alleging inaction in referring to the arbitration, this writ petition is filed. 3.

A copy of application dated 25.04.2018 is placed on record as Ex.P.1 and acknowledgement of receipt of the said application is dated 03.05.2018.

Having regard to the same, the Writ Petition is disposed of directing the District Collector-1st respondent to refer the claim of the petitioners for arbitration under Section 3 (G) (5) of the Act, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of
