The petitioner states that he was a law student at the time of filing the Writ Petition and he was involved in Crime No.687 of 2012 of Nunna Rural Police Station, Vijayawada, registered for the offences punishable under Sections 343, 384, 506, 420 read with 34 IPC and Sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. However, the said crime was compromised in the National Mega Lok Adalat and he was acquitted on 06.12.2014. When the said case was pending, the police opened a suspect sheet in the year, 2012 and the same is being continued from time to time. Challenging the continuance of the suspect sheet, the present writ petition was filed.

A counter affidavit is filed by the 3rd respondent stating that apart from the above case, the petitioner was involved in six other cases relating to Section 151 Cr.P.C; Except the above referred cases, there are no other cases.

The petitioner also filed a reply affidavit stating that the original Crime No.687 of 2012 was closed on 06.12.2014 and the other five crimes registered against him during elections of 2014 were closed after completion of elections.

ARLR,J WP_22162_2015 When the matter is taken up for consideration on 23.02.2017, in view of the mandatory duty of the police to review cases, learned Government Pleader was directed to ascertain whether the petitioner was involved in any other crimes and whether the suspect sheet is being continued.

Learned counsel Government Pleader submits that the suspect sheet is being continued even though the petitioner is not involved in any other crime.

In the circumstances, in view of the authoritative pronouncements of this Court as pronounced in various judgments and in view of police Standing Orders, the 3rd respondent is directed to pass appropriate orders for closure of the suspect sheet as no crime is pending against the petitioner as on today, the 3rd respondent shall pass appropriate orders in this regard within a period of sixty (60) days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. Miscellaneous Petitions, if any, pending in this writ petition shall stand closed. There shall be no order as to costs. _______________________ A.RAMALI NGESWARA RAO, J Date:13.03.2017 INL
