Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents. 2.

The case of the petitioner is that when he presented the deed of conveyance in respect of lands to an extent of Ac.3-95 cents in Survey No.359-1 and an extent of Ac.1-45 cents in Survey No.355-5 of Cherukuvaripalli Revenue Village, Sodum Mandal, Chittoor District, before the Sub-Registrar for registration, he refused to receive the same. Hence, the Writ Petition.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that irrespective of the status of the lands, the Sub-Registrar cannot refuse to receive the document at the threshold.

Having regard to the aforesaid submissions, this Writ Petition is disposed of granting liberty to the petitioner to present the deed of conveyance before the Sub-Registrar. As and when such deed of conveyance is presented, the Sub-Registrar shall receive and process the same in accordance with the Registration Act, 1908 and the Indian Stamp Act, 1899. If the Sub-Registrar has valid reasons for refusing to register the deed of conveyance, he shall pass orders under Section 71 of the Registration Act and communicate the same to the petitioner within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of such document.
