The case of the petitioners is that their lands were acquired for submergence of Somasila Project by the 1st respondent, by issuing notification dated 23-03-1995, under Section 4 (1) of the Land Acquisition Act and eventually they were paid compensation, but not satisfied with the same, they sought for a reference under Section 18 of the Act and the same was numbered as LAOP No.74 of 1999 on the file of Senior Civil Judge, Rajampet, YSR Kadapa District, and disposed by judgment dated 24-02-2006 enhancing the compensation for structures at 80% over and above the compensation fixed by the LAO. The grievance of the petitioners is that though they made an application dated 5-7-2006 under Section 28-A of the Act to the 3rd respondent to re-determine the compensation in terms of the order passed in LAOP No.74 of 1999, no orders are passed on the same. Hence, this writ petition. Heard learned counsel for the petitioners.

Though learned Asst. Government Pleader for Revenue seeks time for getting instructions in the matter, it is to be seen that application made under Section 28-A of the Act is pending for a considerable time and it is for the authorities to consider in a time frame, when such an application is made under a statutory provision.

In the circumstances, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matters, the writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent-authorities to pass appropriate orders on the application dated 05-07-2006 made by the petitioners, in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
