Respondents The Court made the following:
THE HON'BLE SRI JUSTICE P. NAVEEN RAO WRIT PETITION No.44245 OF 2018 ORDER:
Heard learned counsel for the petitioners and learned Government Pleader for Agriculture for respondents. 2.
Petitioners claim that they are the permanent residents of Narsarajupalem Village, Marripudi Mandalam, Prakasam District, and are eking out their livelihood by doing agriculture. According to them, they raised Kandi crop, but due to drought in Prakasam District, the cultivation did not yield any crop and sustained huge loss. The Government extended its helping hand to provide compensation to the ryths on account of drought condition in the district. Petitioners allege that the amount payable to them as per the policy formulated by the Government is not paid and only a paltry amount is paid. Petitioners contend that they submitted representations to the District Collector, Prakasam District, furnishing all the details, but so far no decision is made compelling them to invoke the jurisdiction of this Court. 3.
According to the written instructions furnished to learned Government Pleader for Agriculture, sufficient provision is now made for disbursement of amount towards crop damage; the same shall be paid to the petitioners and appropriate steps will be taken. However, the instructions are not very clear on the issue. 4.
In view of the same, without going into the merits of the case, the Writ Petition is disposed of directing the District Collector, Prakasam District, to consider the representations
submitted by the petitioners, which also include their bank details, and pass appropriate orders as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the order. If the petitioners are found to be eligible for payment of amount towards crop damage, the same shall also be credited to their respective bank accounts within a period of two weeks thereafter. There shall be no order as to costs. Pending Miscellaneous Petitions, if any, shall stand closed. ____________________ P. NAVEEN RAO, J Date:20.12.2018 KH
