The continuation of the suspect sheet against the petitioner herein despite acquittal in all the criminal cases is the subject matter of challenge in the present Writ Petition. 2.

According to the learned counsel for the petitioner, the impugned action is highly illegal, arbitrary, unreasonable and violative of Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution of India, besides being opposed to the very spirit and object of the Police Standing Order. In elaboration, it is further submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioner that all the criminal cases against the petitioner ended in acquittal and there is no conviction and as on date there are no cases pending against the petitioner herein.

It is also the submission of the learned counsel for the petitioner that requesting for deletion of his name from the suspect sheet, he made a representation to the 2nd respondent on 10.1.2018 by duly enclosing the copies of the orders of acquittal, but no response has been given so far. 4.

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned GP, this Court deems it appropriate to dispose of the Writ Petition by leaving it open to the petitioner to submit

an application/representation to the concerned authority requesting for deletion of his name from the suspect sheet, within a period of ten days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order with a further direction to the authorities to verify the same and take appropriate action/pass appropriate orders strictly in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of the application/representation from the petitioner. 5.

The Writ Petition is disposed of accordingly. Pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall stand closed. No order as to costs.
