The Petitioner contended that the State Government had taken a policy decision to repay Rs.10,000/- to the Depositors of 462 Credit Societies, as it was noticed that due to financial mismanagement those Credit Societies were unable to repay the amount of the Depositors. The State decided to provide loan of about 200 crores to such Societies without charging any interest.

The Petitioner's contention is that the State has not taken necessary steps to recover the amount of Rs.200 crores. On behalf of the Respondents, two affidavits have been so far filed by the Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Solapur City.

pil.65-2013 We direct the Respondent No.1-State to file an affidavit in respect of implementation of the policy decision as reflected in the Government Resolution dated 4th August 2009 and action taken against the defaulting Societies. The State shall explain what stringent steps are taken to recover this amount and against how many Managing Committee Members/Directors action was taken. The State shall explain the status of the criminal cases lodged against the erring persons and to explain as to what preventive steps the State is adopting so that in future recurrence of such incidence is minimised/restricted.

Leave to place on record further documents by the Petitioner. An authenticated copy of this order be provided to the learned AGP. Stand over to 25th March 2015.
