All that this Court can direct in this petition is, if there is an application and stated to be made for renewal of licences to operate and run a retail-sale business of Indian made foreign liquor/beer and in the premises, more particularly described in the writ petition, then, that should be decided by the Competent Authority as expeditiously as possible and within

suresh 27-WP-1819.2014.doc a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Our order and direction does not oblige the respondents to renew the licences. They must take a decision on merit and strictly in accordance with law and the applicable policies. If they demand curbing of illegal and unauthorised liquor trade, then, that should be strictly enforced, irrespective of any direction of this nature. The writ petition is disposed of. (DR.
