The limited relief sought in the writ petition is to issue a direction to the 13th Sessions Judge at Dindoshi, Mumbai, to expedite hearing of Criminal Appeal No.119 of 2018 filed by the petitioner/husband under Section 29 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. The said appeal is filed by the petitioner/appellant being aggrieved by the grant of maintenance by the learned Magistrate at Andheri in D.V. proceedings, where the husband has been directed to pay maintenance of Rs.20,000/- per month to the wife. The innocuous prayer made in the petition deserves to be granted, without issuing notice to the other side, as it can be seen that the criminal appeal is pending since 2018. The 13th Sessions Court at Dindoshi, Mumbai is requested to expedite the hearing of Criminal Appeal No.119 of 2018 and shall make every endeavour to conclude the proceedings within four months from today.
