Heard learned counsel for the applicant and learned APP for the State.

This is an application for suspension of sentence. The maximum sentence awarded for the offence punishable under Sections 7, 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 by the trial Court is one year simple imprisonment and to pay fine, in default to suffer simple imprisonment of three months. The fine amount has been paid.

The applicant was on bail during the trial. There is nothing on record to indicate that the applicant had misused his liberty while on bail. Considering the short sentence imposed as the appeal is not likely to be heard any time soon, I am inclined to suspend the sentence.

The sentence is suspended. The applicant shall be released on bail on his furnishing P.R. bond in the sum of Rs.15,000/- with one or more sureties in the like amount. 6.

The applicant shall report to the trial Court once in six months every first Monday of the concerned month between 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m., commencing March 2024. 7.

The application is disposed of.
