The Petition is filed on 6 February 2020. This Petition is pending since then. As per the affidavit filed by the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, the last date of the programme, that is the publication of electoral roll was of 15 May 2020. In this Petition ad-interim order was passed on 28 February 2020 regarding coercive steps to be taken by the Respondents. It is clear that since the final publication of electoral roll was in May 2020, the cause of action as of today does not survive. Therefore, it is not necessary to keep the Writ Petition pending. The Writ Petition is accordingly disposed of. The question of law raised by the Petitioner is kept open to be considered in appropriate cases if they arise in future. AMIT BORKAR, J.
