The learned counsel representing the Passport Authority, Passport Offce, Thane, makes a categorical statement that at present the policy of the Ministry of External Affairs is, not to grant renewal of passport, but reissue the passport. In the wake of the aforesaid policy, the learned counsel states that since the passport of the Applicant has expired in M.M.Salgaonkar

2/2 22 IA-610-23.odt November 2022, the Applicant is duty bound to make an application, seeking re-issuance of the passport, instead of seeking renewal of passport.

Upon such a statement coming from the learned counsel for respondent No.3, the learned counsel for the Applicant states that he would take appropriate steps by making a fresh application before the Passport Authority for re-issuance of his passport.

Upon such an application being made, the Passport Authority is expected to decide it on merits, in accordance with law.

In the wake of the above, the present application does not survive and stands disposed off.
