Ms.Vhatkar, learned Counsel for the State placed on record communication dated 30th June, 2016 by Desk Officer, Government of Maharashtra, Food and Civil Supply Department to Commissioner, Transport Department.

The letter discloses that in pursuance of the order passed by the the Division Bench of this Court on 9.8.2004 in Writ Petition No.9784 of 2003 the Government has taken decision to handover work of pps

9 wp 7562-16.doc verification of Auto/taxi and rickshaw meter to the transport department. This decision is also communicated to the Controller of Legal Meteorology Department. The letter is taken on record and marked "X" for identification. Ms. Vhatkar learned AGP also states that independent instructions are also given to the Controller, Transport Department. She submitted that the Controller, Legal Meteorology, has undertaken that once the work of verification of the auto rickshaw/taxi meters is undertaken by the transport department, they would stop checking the same. Statement accepted.

Mr. Hegde, learned Counsel for the petitioner states that in view of the above, the grievance of the petitioner no more survives. 4.

Petition is accordingly disposed of.
