The only relief sought in this writ petition is a direction to be issued to the Scrutiny Committee, Konkan Division, Thane to decide the claims of the Petitioners who are seeking issuance of Validity Certificates. It is submitted that since the Petitioners are students, their claims ought to be decided expeditiously.

The learned Assistant Government Pleader on instructions from the 2nd Respondent submits that insofar as Petitioner Nos.2 and 5 to 8 are concerned, their caste claims have been decided. Insofar as Petitioners Nos.1 & 4 are concerned, it is submitted that within further

2/2 20 wp 3816.22.doc period of 8 weeks their caste claims would be decided. Insofar as Petitioner No.3 is concerned, the records are presently not traceable and an effort would be made to trace out the relevant papers and decide the caste claim expeditiously. Hence, by accepting the statement made on instructions, it is directed that the claims of the Petitioner Nos.1 and 4 be decided within a period of 8 weeks from today. Insofar as caste claim of the Petitioner No.3 is concerned, the same be decided within a period of 8 weeks with liberty to the said Petitioner to assist the Committee in reconstructing the record.
