DATE : 17th MARCH, 2021 P.C. :- By this writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the petitioner prays for quashing and setting aside the impugned order dated 24th February, 2021 issued by the respondent no.1 directing the postponement of the election in respect of the cooperative societies in the State of Maharashtra beyond 31st March, 2021.

Learned counsel for the petitioner invited our attention to the election programme already issued on 12th February, 2021. In the said election programme it is provided that the election would be held as
KVM 2/2 20 - WP 804 OF 2021.doc and when fixed by the State Government. Learned counsel accordingly submits that the election programme which has already been issued shall remain intact till the stage of scrutinization of the nomination forms is concerned. Statement is accepted.

It is accordingly ordered that the steps already taken pursuant to the said election programme till date would remain intact. As and when the State Government announces the dates of the election, the election would be held according to the date as may be declared by the State Government. The State Government is not required to follow the steps already taken so far under the said election programme dated 21st February, 2021.

Writ petition is disposed of with the aforesaid clarification. No order as to costs.
