The letter addressed by the Additional Sessions Judge, City Civil & Sessions Court, Greater Mumbai, dated 29/09/2022, seeking extension to conclude the trial in Sessions Case No.648 of 2019. The reasons stated in the communication are perused. By order dated 9/09/2021, the Sessions court was directed to conclude the trial within a period of 12 weeks. Though I am convinced to grant some extension looking to the progress of the matter. I am not inclined to grant period of 1 year as prayed by the learned Judge and deem it appropriate to grant further extension of six months since the witnesses are under cross-examination. In any case the learned Judge will have to be strict with the time schedule in Ashish Mhaske

2/2 1 BA 1216.21.doc the wake of the High Court's order making the trial time bound and shall curtail unnecessary adjournment and shall make it clear to the respective counsels representing the accused as well as the public prosecutor representing the prosecution.

I deem it appropriate to grant six months extension to conclude the proceedings in Sessions Case No. 648 of 2019. The order shall be communicated to the learned Judge.

Application is disposed off.
