By an order dated April 9, 2021, a co-ordinate Bench of this Court disposed of Writ Petition (St.) No. 8591 of 2021, inter alia, directing the petitioners to pay a sum of Rs.20 lakh within 21 days to the respondent to facilitate regularization of the account of the petitioners.

The petitioners could not pay the amount directed by the said order within 21 days. The present application for extension of time was filed on April 29, 2021, seeking 12 weeks for making payment in terms of the said order. Even the period of 12 weeks has lapsed by the time this application has been taken up for consideration. 1/2

We record that having regard to the order of the Full Bench dated August 31, 2021 in Suo Motu Public Interest Litigation No.1 of 2021, the respondent would be restrained from taking any coercive steps against the petitioners till September 30, 2021. In the meanwhile, it will be open to the petitioners to approach the respondent with a proposal for one-time settlement of the dues and if such proposal is received, the respondent shall consider and dispose of such proposal in accordance with law. 4.

With this observation, this application stands disposed of. There shall be no order for costs.
