Petitioner, party-in-person, prays for direction to the respondents to transfer his name from Ward No.4 to Ward No.6 in the Final Voters List or Supplementary List published for election 2017 of the Panvel Municipal Corporation.

Learned counsel for respondent no.1 - State Election Commission submits that the petitioner is entitled to contest the election

907-WP-ST-12045-17 from any Ward of the Panvel Municipal Corporation. Learned counsel further submits that the State Election Commission does not have any authority to transfer the name of the petitioner from one Ward to another Ward and, therefore, it would not be permissible to accept the request of the petitioner. The petitioner may approach the Electoral Registration Officer.

In view of the statements made above, we do not find that any interference is warranted at this stage. The election process is already set in motion.

Petition is disposed of accordingly.
