By way of amendment permitted as per the order dated 8 August 2014, the Petitioner is seeking a writ of mandamus directing the State Government to amend the various provisions of the Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949 and the Bombay Foreign Liquor Rules, 1953. A writ of mandamus directing the Legislature to legislate in a particular manner cannot be issued.

If according to the Petitioner, certain statutory provisions are unconstitutional it is for him to seek appropriate remedy in that behalf. 1/2
