On expressing my disinclination to entertain the application on merits, in the wake of the material compiled in the charge-sheet, the learned counsel for the applicant makes a request to expedite the trial.

The applicant was arrested on 13/09/2018 in the crime invoking Section 376 of the IPC and Sections 4, 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act. Special Case No.177 of 2018 needs to be expeditiously disposed off in view of the statutory mandate contained in the POCSO Act, which is a special enactment. M.M.Salgaonkar

With a direction being issued to the learned Special Court to dispose off Special Case No.177 of 2018 within a period of one year, the application is dismissed.
