For reasons separately recorded, the writ petition is partly allowed. The order passed by the learned Presiding Officer, Labour Court, Satara is modified in Clause (4). The first party is directed to pay 50% of backwages to the second party workman from the date of his retrenchment, i.e. 1 September 2003, till the date he reached the age of superannuation.
