1. Petitioner-accused, in Special Case (ACB) No. 186/2020 sought expeditious disposal of the case which the trial Court refused by order dated 15 th June, 2021. In paras-4, 5, 6 and 7 of the order, the Learned Special Judge, Solapur has observed as under :

"4] Considering facts of this case and the grounds of speedy trial argued on behalf of accused, it is noted that, on 14/11/2019 accused came to be arrested in connection with the offence p.u.s. 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act. Then, on 19/11/2019 he has been released on bail. Prosecution has filed charge-sheet against him on 28/2/2020. However, since March, 2020 the regular functioning of the Court has

Rane 2/2 WP-2811-2021,sr.36 been suspended due to pandemic situation of Covid-19. Said situation is continued till today except initial 2-3 months of this year.

5] In this Court, there are 27 matters under Prevention of Corruption Act are pending. Out of it, 23 matters are of the year 2013 to 2019. Out of it 2 matters are part-heard and 13 matters are ready for hearing. On this background, it is the duty of this Court to dispose off part heard matters first and then to start with the hearing of remaining ready matters.

6] There are 12 Sessions Cases of 26 Under Trial Prisoners are pending. Out of them, 7 cases are of the year 2017 to 2019. Some of them are also part-heard matters and remaining cases are awaiting for hearing.

7] There are also 26 Civil Matters and 25 Criminal Matters are in between 5 to 10 years old. There are also 11 Civil and 17 Criminal matter are about 10 years old. Litigants in those cases are also awaiting for its disposal."

2. Aggrieved by this order, the petitioner has invoked the supervisory jurisdiction of this Court under Article 227 of the Constitution of India.
