We have heard both sides. An application which is made by the petitioner on 21st October, 2014 to the Chief Commissioner of Customs (respondent No.2) seeking compounding of offences in terms of the Customs (Compounding of Offences) Rules, 2005, is yet not disposed of.

The petitioner requests that the same maybe disposed of SRP 1/2

WP7238.15.doc expeditiously. We have not been shown any reason as to why this application is kept pending and for nearly one year. 3.

In the circumstances, we direct that if such an application is made and is pending, the second respondent should dispose of the same within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. All contentions of both sides on merits of this application are kept open.

The Writ Petition is disposed of with these directions and we would not grant any extension of time.
