We are informed by the learned Counsel for the parties that it is not possible to settle the matter by way of negotiations. 2.

In the Affidavit-in-Reply filed by Mr.Bharat Shitole, Deputy Collector, Office of SDO, Panvel, in October-2017, in paragraph no.5, it is stated as follows :

"5.

I say and submit that our office will decide the Petitioners' claim in view of the provisions of New Land

2 of 2 6.WP.10021.2017.doc Acquisition Act i.e. The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, within a period of four months from today."

The aforementioned period of four months is long over. In the circumstances, we extend the time by a further period of four months from today to decide the Petitioners' claim and direct that appropriate steps be taken by the Respondents in that regard expeditiously to complete the process of acquisition and disbursement of compensation.
