The Government Advocate has placed on record policy decision which has come into force with effect from 28 June 2017. The relief sought in the Public Interest Litigation is for waiver of loans, so far as farmers are concerned. Policy placed on record indicates terms and conditions to whom such waiver is applicable and it covers about 136 lakhs of farmers and the benefit under the policy
2 15 PIL 138-16.doc will extend to all over the State of Maharashtra and the amount involved would be Rs.34,000/- crores. In the light of such policy, the very prayer sought in the Public Interest Litigation is answered. Therefore, we are of the opinion, the petition need not be kept pending.
