In response to the relief sought by the petitioner for direction to respondent No.2-Scheduled Tribe Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Nashik, to decide his claim of belonging to "Koli Mahadeo" Tribe which is pending since 2008. Learned AGP on telephonic instructions from Scrutiny Committee, makes a statement that vigilance inquiry is already completed and the Committee which is seized of the matter, would take final decision within a period of two months from today. We accept the said statement and, hope and expect that the Committee would abide by the said statement and take a decision in regard to the claim of the petitioner within a period of two months.

However, till final decision is taken by the Committee, we direct respondent No.3- Special Commissioner of Sales Tax, Maharashtra State, Mumbai, not to take any coercive steps against the petitioner only on the ground of non-submission of caste validity certificate. We also deem it expedient to direct that if the Committee decides the claim of the petitioner against him, the petitioner would be protected for a period of four weeks from the date of passing such order. 3.
