Perused the status report in Special Case No.31 of 2018. Vide order dated 3rd February 2021, this Court (Coram : Sarang V. Kotwal, J.) had directed the learned trial Court to complete the trial on or before 31st July 2021. The explanation given by the AVK 1/3

learned Special Judge is that because of prevailing Covid situation and as also illness of Shri. S.T.Jadhav, learned counsel for the accused, on account of Covid-19, the trial could not be completed. Similarly, according to the learned Special Judge the accused was also not produced by the Jail Authorities in time and therefore, a show cause notice to Superintendent, Yerwada, Pune jail was also issued by him.

It appears that while concluding the status report, the learned Special Judge submits that he would try to dispose off the case at the earliest.

As far as the last line of the status report submitted by the learned Special Judge, Solapur is concerned, the same is highly objectionable and shows that the learned Special Judge does not want to give a particular date or month by which the trial would be concluded, knowing fully well that the earlier directions were very much clear that the trial ought to have been completed on or before 31st July 2021.

This Court, therefore, expresses serious displeasure against the wordings used by the learned Special Judge, Solapur. In view of above, the learned Special Judge, Solapur & Additional Sessions Judge, Solapur, is directed to complete the trial within three months from the date of receipt of this order.
