This is an application preferred by the applicant for extension of the period to furnish sureties.

The applicant was granted bail in connection with Special Case No. 220 of 2020 in N.D.P.S. Special R.A. No. 1005 of 2019 in the case pending before Special Court for NDPS at Greater Mumbai, vide order dated 7th October 2020.

By the said order, the applicant was directed to be released on bail on her furnishing P.R. Bond in the sum of Rs. 50,000/- with one or two sureties in the like amount. Considering the prevailing circumstances at that time, the applicant was permitted to furnish cash bail in the same amount for the period of eight weeks from that date.

The learned Counsel for the applicant submitted that because of the prevailing circumstances, she was unable to provide the sureties, as directed, within stipulated period. However, at present she has submitted documents in respect of one solvent surety pursuant to the directions issued by the earlier order. She submitted that only the formalities are needed to be completed.

The learned Counsel for the respondent submitted that the applicant should have diligently furnished surety as directed by previous orders.

I have considered these submissions. Since only the formalities are necessary to be completed and since the applicant has already furnished solvent sureties, I am inclined to allow this application. Hence the following order.

ORDER

(i) Time to furnish surety is extended by a period of four weeks from today. Rest of the conditions in the order dated 7th October 2020 are maintained as they are.

(ii) Application is disposed of.
