I have requested Advocate Supriya Kak to appear on behalf of the applicant since the present application has been filed through jail. She has graciously agreed to represent the applicant.

The applicant was arrested on June 9, 2016 in connection with the offence punishable under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. There are as many as 23 antecedents reported against the applicant. The applicant has been convicted in five cases and had undergone punishment. Those cases in the submission of learned counsel for the applicant pertain to the year 2002 and 2003. The other cases are pending trial. The charge was framed in 1/2

6. ba 2305.22.doc sometime in the month of July 2020, since then according to the applicant there has been no progress in the trial. 3.

Taking an over all view of the matter, in my opinion, considering that the applicant is in custody for more than six and half years, the present is a case where the trial can be expedited.

Learned trial Judge is requested to conclude the trial within a period six months from February 14, 2023. The investigating ofocer is requested to place the order before the trial Court.

Liberty to apply after six months.
