The petitioner has filed this public interest litigation for a direction to the respondents not to allow registration of any transactions and/or documents in respect of land below the standard area prescribed in Prevention of Fragmentation Act, 1947. 2.
Learned counsel for the petitioner has drawn our attention to Exhibit-B annexed to the petition. Exhibit-B itself answers the prayer of the petition whereby necessary directions have been issued by the State Government to all the concerned officers. Learned counsel for the petitioner states that in spite of these directions, they are not being implemented effectively and transactions of such land are still taking place. ABS

In view of the above, we direct respondent no.17 - Inspector General of Registration & Controller of Stamps and respondent no. 22 - Secretary, Revenue & Forests Department, State of Maharashtra, to look into the issue and take necessary steps considering this PIL as a representation of the petitioner. The Registry will send copy of the PIL along with this order to the concerned authorities.
