The Public Interest Litigation is based upon newspaper reports. The news published is that 13228 school rooms in schools directly established by Zilla Parishads in the State of Maharashtra are so disfunctional that children cannot study in said schools resulting in either the children not receiving any education or being forced to travel to schools at long distance from their residence. 2.

We dispose of the Public Interest Litigation directing the Secretary, Education, State of Maharashtra to treat the Public Interest Litigation as a representation and after calling for reports from all the Zilla Parishads concerning the status of the school buildings established by the Zilla Parishads pass suitable orders and if need be co-ordinate with the Finance Department of the State of Maharashtra so that the funds can be released to refurbish the buildings which are dilapidated. 3.

Needful shall be done within six months.
