P.C.:- Mr. Gavnekar, the learned counsel for the Petitioner at the outset states that this petition may be restricted to the relief claimed in prayer clause (d), which read as follows:- "(d) by a Writ of Mandamus or writ, order or direction of similar nature, your Lordships be pleased to direct Respondent No.15 to decide the Caste Validity Claim pending before it expeditiously permitting the Petitioners and/or other persons to participate in the said proceedings raising objections to the validity of the same." 2.

So far as the directions to the Caste Scrutiny Committee, is concerned, the learned AGP has no objection to pass appropriate order. We, accordingly direct the Respondent No.15- the Caste Scrutiny Committee, Thane to decide the caste validity claim of the Respondent Megha 1/2

Megha 903_wp_8003_2018.doc Nos.3 to 5 as expeditiously as possible and preferrably within a period of six months from the date of receipt of copy of this order. 3.

As far as the Petitioners' prayer to participate in the said proceedings before the Respondent No.15 is concerned, we grant liberty to the Petitioners to make an application for intervention in the said proceedings. In the event, such application is filed by the Petitioners, the Caste Scrutiny Committee shall decide the same in accordance with law.
