The petitioner, who is convicted for the offence punishable under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code, at the relevant time, had applied for extending the benefit under the Probation of Offenders Act, 1958. 2.

Learned APP appearing for the respondent/State has tendered across the bar a letter written by the Superintendent of Kolhapur Central Prison, Kalamba, Kolhapur. The same is taken on record and marked ' X' for identification.

It appears that as on 31.03.2014, the petitioner had undergone 2 years 5 months and 25 days imprisonment. By this time, he might have been Ethape

In that view of the matter, we do not think it appropriate to issue any directions. Hence, writ petition stand disposed of. 5.
