The State filed this appeal against the judgment of acquittal, dated 04.01.2008. The respondent-accused was charged with offences under Section 7 and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Now the learned APP, on instructions, informs the Court that the respondent died pending the appeal. She has placed on record the death certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation of the Ulhasnagar, accompanied by the letter, dt.25.06.2019, of the Police Commissioner, ACB, Worli, Mumbai. The respondent died on 2nd August 2016.

Therefore, the appeal does not survive. Accordingly, Criminal Appeal No. 949 of 2012 stands closed.
