CORAM : REVATI MOHITE DERE, J.
DATE : 9th FEBRUARY, 2018 P.C. :
1.
Heard learned counsel for the parties.
2.
By this application, the Applicant has sought a direction to the Respondent No.4-Regional Passport Officer, Regional Passport Office,
2/3 Worli, Mumbai, to renew the applicant's passport for a period of 10 years. 3.
Learned Counsel for the applicant submits that the applicant is required to travel frequently, in connection with work and as such renewal of his passport only for 1 year is causing tremendous hardships. He submitted that on two prior occasions, the passport of the applicant was renewed for 1 year. He submitted that for the purpose of travelling abroad, the visiting country issues Visa, only if the validity of the passport is beyond 6 months. Learned Counsel relied on the Judgment dated 13th March, 2014, passed by the Division Bench of this Court in Writ Petition No.361 of 2014.
4.
Mr.Venegaonkar, learned counsel for Respondent No.4Regional Passport Officer states that appropriate orders be passed in view of the Judgment dated 13th March, 2014, passed by the Division Bench of this Court in Writ Petition No.361 of 2014. He states that he has no objection, if the passport is renewed for a period of 5 years.
3/3 5.
Perused the papers. It is not in dispute that the applicant's passport was renewed earlier for a period of 1 year. It appears that the applicant is required to travel abroad in connection with his work frequently.
6.
Accordingly, the application is allowed and disposed of on the following terms and condition:-
ORDER
i) The Regional Passport Officer to renew the passport of the applicant, for a period of 5 years, as per the Passport Act and Rules thereunder.
