We have heard learned counsel for the Petitioner. The application of the Petitioner for citizenship is rejected on 30th August, 2022 on the ground that the application was made under Section 5(1)(f) of the Citizenship Act. The said provision would not apply. 2.

The Petitioner on 31st August, 2022 has filed application under Section 5(1)(g) of the Citizenship Act, 1955. Nikita Gadgil 1/2

In the morning session, we asked the learned AGP to take instructions on the status of the application. The learned AGP, on instructions, submits that the said application is pending with the office of the Collector. The same would be sent for verification to the FRRO ("Foreigners Regional Registration Officer"). 4.

The office of the Collector shall send the said application filed by the Petitioner to FRRO within two days. The FRRO shall thereafter process the same and send it back to the office of the Collector within seven days and thereafter to the State Government. The State Government shall thereafter forward the same to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Foreigners Division, Government of India, New Delhi. The final decision shall be taken preferably within fifteen days.

Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
