AND BHARATI DANGRE, J DATED : 13th AUGUST 2019 P.C:- The Public Interest Litigation refers to information gathered by the petitioner in District Solapur as per the pleadings that 15% bogus ration card holders prima facie are registered under the Food Distribution System through the Fair Price Shops. Prayer made is to conduct an inquiry and remove the bogus ration card holders so that the Public Distribution System can be improved. 2/2 PIL 210-10.odt Supreme Court issued directions on 31st August 2010 requiring all States and Union Territories to issue an advertisement calling upon bogus card holders to surrender the same and directed FIRs to be registered.

With the advent of the Adhar Card linking bio-metric particulars of individuals, the Public Distribution System has been improved and large number of fake card holders have had their names removed. From the Distribution System, bogus ration cards have been weeded out. No directions need to be issued in the PIL as of today and we dispose of the petition as infructuous.
