By this petition, sent through Jail, the petitioner seeks expeditious disposal of his trial which is pending before the learned Additional Sessions Judge, Pune in Sessions Case No. 379 of 2017 (arising out of C.R. No. 334 of 2016 registered with the Jejuri Police Station, Pune).

punishable under section 395 of the Indian Penal Code alongwith four other accused. He submits that the appellant is in custody for the last seven years with no prospect of the trial concluding in the immediate near future.

Learned APP states that the trial has commenced and that till date, only one witness has been examined. 4.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that a perusal of the roznama of the case would indicate that practically on every date the prosecution has sought.

It appears that the petitioner is in custody for seven years, and that till date only one witness has been examined. 6.

Considering the aforesaid, we deem it appropriate to direct the Additional Sessions Judge, 20th Court, Pune to expedite the trial of the petitioner. The said trial to conclude as expeditiously as possible, and in any event on or before 10th February 2024. 2/3

Registry to forthwith forward a copy of this Order to the Learned Additional Sessions Judge, 20th Court, Pune for compliance of the same.
