The learned counsel for the respondent on instructions states that if the petitioner furnishes a copy of the Gazette containing a declaration of the change of name and a true copy of either a notorized or a registered deed of adoption, the application for passport will be considered by the Regional Passport Officer and the passport will be issued within a period of one week from the date on which the application is received and police verification is completed. We accept the statements made on instructions. The learned counsel for the petitioner states that necessary documents will be submitted by tomorrow.

Hence, we dispose of the petition by passing the following order:

wp13066 (I) The statements made by the respondents are accepted.

On the petitioner furnishing aforesaid two documents, the Regional Passport Office shall immediately send an intimation to the local Police Station for carrying out necessary verification. We direct that the police verification shall be completed within a period of two weeks from the date on which requisition is received by the concerned local Police Station. Within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of requisition for police verification, the police shall submit a report to the Regional Passport Office, Mumbai; (II) Within a period of one week from the receipt of police verification report, the second respondent shall issue passport as applied by the petitioner;

(III) Writ Petition is disposed of on above terms;

(IV) All concerned to act upon an authenticated copy of this order.
